Terms of use
These terms govern your use of Vekara. They are meant to be read together with our privacy policy. Vekara is a consumer-to-consumer marketplace. We provide the platform; you make the deal with the other family.
1. Who we are
Vekara is operated from Vantaa, Finland by a small family, in our free time. Contact: support@vekara.app.
These terms are governed by the laws of Finland, and by applicable EU law, including the Digital Services Act (Regulation (EU) 2022/2065) where it applies to us as a hosting service.
2. The service
Vekara lets adults list and find pre-loved children’s clothes, toys, shoes, books and baby gear, then message each other and arrange a local handoff. We are not the seller or the buyer. We do not take possession of items, we do not process the purchase price, and we are not a party to the contract between users.
You must be 18 or over to create an account. You are responsible for anyone who uses Vekara through your account.
3. Listings, messages and handoffs
- List only items you have the right to sell or give away. Describe them honestly, including condition and size.
- Do not list illegal, unsafe, counterfeit, recalled or otherwise prohibited goods. Do not list items that are not for children or families in the ordinary sense of this marketplace.
- Meet in a public, sensible place if you do not already know the other person. You decide how to pay and how to hand the item over. Vekara does not hold money in escrow.
- Reviews must be based on a real request or handoff. Do not leave fake, abusive or discriminatory reviews.
Between two private individuals, ordinary consumer-sale rules for professional traders do not always apply. You should still treat each other fairly. If you act as a trader (for example you sell regularly in the course of a business), you must say so and comply with EU consumer law, including the Consumer Rights Directive and Finnish consumer-protection rules.
4. What we can do
We may refuse, hide or remove listings, reviews or accounts that break these terms, the law, or other people’s rights, or that put families at risk. We may suspend or close an account after giving you a reason, unless the law requires us to act without delay (for example illegal content).
Under the Digital Services Act, you can report allegedly illegal content to support@vekara.app. Put “DSA report” in the subject. We will review notices and tell you the outcome where the DSA requires it. If we restrict your content or account, you may contact us to appeal.
5. Intellectual property
You keep the rights in photos and text you upload. You grant us a limited licence to host and display them so the marketplace can function. Do not upload photos or text you do not have the right to use. Vekara’s name, logo and site design remain ours.
6. Availability
Vekara is a free-time project. We try to keep it running, but we do not promise uninterrupted or error-free service, and we may change or pause features.
7. Liability
We are not liable for the quality, safety or legality of items listed by users, or for a handoff that goes wrong between two families, except where Finnish or EU law does not allow us to limit liability — including liability for intent, gross negligence, or injury to life, body or health.
Nothing in these terms limits your mandatory rights as a consumer under Finnish or EU law.
8. Ending the agreement
You may stop using Vekara and ask us to delete your account at any time by writing to support@vekara.app. We may end the service with reasonable notice, except where we must act sooner for legal or safety reasons.
9. Disputes
Please write to us first. Finnish law applies. If a dispute cannot be settled, it may be brought before the competent courts of Finland. If you are a consumer in the EU, you may also use the European Commission’s Online Dispute Resolution platform and, where it applies, the Consumer Disputes Board (kuluttajariitalautakunta) in Finland.
10. Changes
We may update these terms. The current version will always be on this page, with the effective date. If a change is material, we will try to let signed-in users know.

Vekara on yksityishenkilöiden välinen kirpputori. Emme ole kaupan osapuoli emmekä käsittele maksuja. Sinun pitää olla 18 vuotta täyttänyt. Ilmoitusten pitää olla rehellisiä, ja kiellettyjen tai vaarallisten tavaroiden myynti on kielletty. Laitonta sisältöä voi ilmoittaa osoitteeseen support@vekara.app. Sopimukseen sovelletaan Suomen lakia ja EU-sääntelyä. Pakottavia kuluttajansuojaoikeuksia ei rajoiteta.
