Lapset kasvavat irti vaatteista ja leluista nopeammin kuin ne ehtivät kulua. Samaan aikaan naapurissa toinen perhe etsii juuri sitä sadekampetta, rattia tai nallea. Vekara syntyi, jotta hyvät tavarat saisivat uuden kierroksen — lähellä, ilman turhaa kuljetusta ja ilman hävikkiä.

Meille kyse on kahdesta asiasta: ympäristöstä ja yhteisöstä. Jokainen eteenpäin annettu toppahaalari on pieni teko kiertotalouden puolesta. Jokainen paikallinen luovutus on kohtaaminen, josta kasvaa luottamus vanhempien välillä. Arvostelut, viestit ja naapuruston kirppis eivät ole lisäosa. Ne ovat koko idea.

Vekara ei ole jättimäinen kauppapaikka. Se on paikallinen kierto, jonka perheet pitävät elossa.

For the planet

Children’s clothing is one of the fastest-churning corners of fashion. A snowsuit may be needed for a single winter. A wooden toy can last a decade. When those pieces are thrown away, the water, cotton, plastic and work that went into them go with them.

Passing something on is recycling in its most ordinary form. No warehouse. No long-haul shipping. A parent in Vantaa, Helsinki or Espoo meets another parent nearby, and a good thing keeps doing its job. That is the greenest delivery: walking around the corner.

For the neighbourhood

A marketplace only works if people can trust each other. Reviews, honest listings and local handoffs are how we build that. Vekara is meant to feel like the playground conversation — “we’ve got a box of 86s if you need them” — made a little easier to find.

We would rather grow a careful community than a noisy feed. If Vekara helps one more snowsuit, pram or storybook stay in use, and helps two families say hello, it is doing its job.
